At the moment, our coding team has two student members, Chris Pearce and Elainna McAllister. In competitions, they are important because during the first fifteen seconds of the match the robots need to function without any human control. So our coders develop instructions for the robot to do in the fifteen seconds so that it can score us points. In addition to that, they help develop the robot’s functions.
Chris is the more experienced of the two as he has been learning and practicing code for three years. He has also been a member of robotics for several years and is currently a sophomore. Elainna is a rookie this year and is presently working on learning code. She is in eighth grade but is part of the high school team because she is better fit for it rather than the middle school team.
